Who We Are
Southeast Community College is a publicly funded two-year post-secondary institution in Nebraska,
offering education and training to students in the areas of agriculture, business,
construction, computers, electronics, environmental, family and consumer science,
health, manufacturing and fabrications, mass media communication and
transportation. College transfer courses and continuing education classes are other
vital segments of the College's mission. SCC serves approximately 27,000 students
each year at three campuses, located in Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford, and at 26

It is the purpose of Southeast Community College to administer a personnel system

Except as provided by statute or specifically set forth in a written individual contract of
employment, all employees of Southeast Community College are deemed to be
employed at-will and are subject to discharge at any time with or without cause.
PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND BENEFITS
Eligible Employees
SCC offers a wide range of excellent services and benefits to their eligible
employees. Regular employees with a full-time equivalency factor of three-fourths
(3/4) or more are eligible for all benefits available through SCC. Full-time equivalency

Handbook.
Approved Holidays
Eligible employees receive eleven paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days) and winter break (5 days).

- Social Security-SCC employees are covered by the Federal Social Security
Plan. The College withholds from employee wagers an amount equal to the
Federal Social Security Plan amount requirement for that year, and an
equivalent amount is provided by the College.
- Life Insurance-The College makes available a minimum of $10,000 life
insurance coverage and $10,000 accidental death and dismemberment
coverage for eligible employees.
- Long Term Disability Insurance - The College makes available long term
disability insurance for eligible employees for a minimum of 60% of salary not
to exceed $5,000 monthly, payable to age 65.
- Retirement Plan - The College makes available a group retirement plan
(TIAA-CREF Retirement Plan) to eligible employees, and contributes an
amount equal to the employee's contribution not to exceed 7.0%. Eligible
employees age 30 and above are required to participate.
- Worker's Compensation - All employees are covered by insurance for
expenses involved with an on-the-job accident.
- Tax-Sheltered Annuity - Participation optional.
- Continuing Education Class Tuition Reimbursement
Tuition Remission Policy for Employees and Dependents - 100% tuition
remission for eligible employees, 50% tuition remission for spouse or
dependent of an eligible employee.
- Tuition Reimbursement - An eligible employee shall have the opportunity to
be reimbursed for costs incurred for the completion of undergraduate or
graduate credit courses from colleges or universities.
The Southeast Community College Board of Governors are responsible for
implementing and maintaining the program of benefits for eligible employees.
HIRING PROCEDURES
The Vice President for Human Resources coordinates all hiring activities for the
College, and seek authorization from the President in initiating and filling all
vacancies. The Human Resources Office is located in the College's Area Office,
1111 O Street, Suite 111, Lincoln, NE 68508-3614.
All recruitment and selection of personnel is conducted according to the College's
Affirmative Action Plan.
- Vacancies are posted and advertised internally and/or externally.
- Application forms and support materials are accepted.
- Applications undergo initial screening by the Human Resources Office.
- Interview teams identify potential candidates, and interviews are scheduled.
- References are obtained.
- Interview teams conduct initial interviews and forward summaries of candidate
strengths and weaknesses to the appropriate persons. These designated
persons conduct final interviews and make employment recommendations.
- A recommendation for hiring is forwarded to the President.
- The SCC Area Board of Governors employ personnel on the basis of
recommendations from the President.
POSITION CLASSIFICATIONS
All College positions are assigned to one of the following classifications:
- Administrative
- Faculty
- Professional Staff
- Support Staff
DRUG-FREE ENVIRONMENT
Southeast Community College has adopted, implemented, and actively promotes
and supports the Drug-Free Workplace Act, the Drug-Free Schools and Communities
Act, and state laws and regulations concerning controlled and/or illegal substances.
The College is committed to providing an employment and educational environment
that is safe, drug-free, and secure, and will make every reasonable good faith effort to
maintain a drug-free workplace by complying with the requirements of local, state,
and federal law.
College policy absolutely prohibits employees and students of the College from
unlawfully manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, possessing, using, or being under
the influence of a controlled substance, including illegal drugs and alcohol, on
College premises, at any College sponsored or sanctioned activity, or while
conducting College business off College premises. Compliance with these standards
of conduct is mandatory for employees and students of Southeast Community
College.
