The_Cornhusker_Hotel

The Cornhusker & Burnam Yates Conference Center is a Nebraska Tradition. The doors of the Hotel first opened in 1926 as the Hotel Cornhusker to become the location of the most extravagant galas in the area, and the host of numerous celebrities and political figures. For the people of the State, the Hotel also became the destination for annual migrations such as State Tournaments, the State Fair and Big Red Football games.

The Hotel was operated under the direction of Schimmel management until 1960 when it was sold to the Radisson Corporation as The Radisson Hotel Cornhusker. The Hotel was then closed in 1978. The structure was then imploded in 1982 to make room for a new hotel, office building, convention center and parking garage to be called Cornhusker Square. David H. Murdock, owner of Murdock Development Company of Los Angeles, California, was the developer and financier of the $41 million dollar project. The doors of the new Cornhusker Hotel were opened December 20, 1983.

Today, The Cornhusker offers 290 finely appointed guest rooms, an entire level dedicated to the executive traveler, eight suites, a Governor’s Suite and an Extended Stay Suite. Attached to the Hotel is The Burnham Yates Conference Center, comprised of over 40,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space which can accommodate more than 2,500 people.

Terrace Grille is located on the lobby level and is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Terrace offers a more casual atmosphere with walls adorned with handpainted murals of garden scenes. Room Service is also available through this restaurant.

The Five Reasons is a cocktail lounge which overlooks the lobby and can accommodate 110 guests. Terrace Espresso & Gifts is located on the lobby level offering gourmet coffee, freshly baked pastries and unique gift items.

Although The Cornhusker has so much to offer, you will be delighted to find the real reason behind our AAA rating is our staff. Dedicated to always serving you better, our employees take pride in their work, as they strive to surpass even the highest guest expectations.
