Lincoln Children's Museum

The Lincoln Children's Museum (LCM) is a child-friendly place, full of imaginative exhibits and programs that encourage a "high touch" atmosphere. The Museum began in 1989 as a 10-day "Sights and Sounds" exhibit at the Nebraska State Fair. It grew to 7,000 square feet in the Atrium and, soon after, to 12,000 square feet at 13th & O Streets, in downtown Lincoln . Due to a steady growth of support and attendance, the Museum identified a need for a new, larger home.

In May 1998 voters of Lincoln approved a $1.9 million bond issue for a new Museum to be located at a larger site in downtown Lincoln . Following an aggressive capital campaign by the Museum Board of Directors and Staff, the new $6.1 million Lincoln Children's Museum opened October 21, 2000 at 1420 P Street . The new Museum is a 45,500 square foot world of color, light, sound and texture, offering three floors of the finest exhibits around.

In 2003 the Lincoln Children's Museum was named Nebraska 's Outstanding Attraction. For more information visit www.lincolnchildrensmuseum.org.
