Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska will be the leader in its
marketplace in designing and delivering the finest cost-effective
products and services in health care financing.
Who we are
In 1939, the beginning of a long tradition of health care coverage was
created in Nebraska when a group of business and community leaders,
medical professionals and others gathered together to form an
organization that today cares for more than 500,000 people. One in
three Nebraskans now enjoy the security of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of
Nebraska coverage.
The concept of health insurance has changed significantly since the
1930s. Today, consumers may choose from a wide variety of plans. Blue
Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska has emerged as a leader in the health
care industry.
We have developed a statewide network of doctors, hospitals and other
health care providers, and have negotiated with them to help stabilize
the cost of medical care. We offer a wide variety of plans to groups
and individuals, all flexibly designed to meet our customers’ diverse
needs, including:

- PPO (preferred provider organization) plans
- HMO (health maintenance organization) plans
- Medicare Supplemental plans
- Optional dental and prescription drug plans
